Kheda Satyagraha was launched by Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi returned to India in 1915. Following his arrival, Mahatma Gandhi successfully carried out satyagraha campaigns across India. He organised a satyagraha in 1918 to defend Gujarat's Kheda peasants. The peasants of Kheda were unable to pay the tribute due to agricultural damage and a plague epidemic and demanded that revenue collection be relaxed. It was the third Satyagraha movement, following the successful Satyagraha in Champaran, Bihar, 1917 and the Ahmedabad Mill strike in 1918.
