Lala Lajpat Rai was one of the leading members of the radical group. The Indian National Congress was split into the moderates and the radicals. The radicals had a different ideology from the moderates. The radicals believed that the British had no right in India so they wanted complete freedom. Their approach was also radical. They always believed in military methods (not in nonviolence). Along with Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal were also the leading leaders in the group. They often criticised the moderates for their method of politics. The radicals always emphasised the importance of self Reliance. They wanted the people to fight for complete Independence (Swaraj).
