Laterite Soil is developed by the process of intense leaching.
It is found in tropical and subtropical climates. The leaching is the result of the heavy rainfall that acts as a weathering factor on the Laterite rocks. Laterite has been derived from the Greek word later, which means brick. It is acidic and rich in iron and aluminium, which gives it a rusty red colour.
