Let  ${(1+\text{x}+2{\text{x}}^2)}^{20}=a_0+a_1\text{x}+a_2{\text{x}}^2+\mathrm{...}+a_{40}{\text{x}}^{40}.$   then $a_1+a_3+a_5+\mathrm{...}+a_{37}$   is equal to 

  ${(1+x+2x^2)}^{20}=a_0+a_{1}x+\mathrm{.....}+a_{40}{x}^{40}$
 Put  $x=1,-1$ 
  $\Rightarrow a_0+a_1+a_2+\mathrm{....}+a_{40}=4^{{ }^{{ }_{20}}}$

$a_0-a_1+a_2+\mathrm{....}+a_{40}=2^{{ }_{{ }^{20}}}$
  
 Here   $a_{39}=\frac{20!{\left(2\right)}^{19}\times 1}{19!}=20\times {20}^{19}$     $\Rightarrow a_1+a_3+\mathrm{....}+a_{37}=2^{{ }^{{ }_{19}}}(2^{20}-1-20)$

$=2^{19}(2^{20}-21)$
