Detailed Solution

Since D.R.s of (a, -4a, -7) are perpendicular to 3, -1, 2b
(a,4a,7)to  (3,1,2)
a = 2b
(a,4a,7)    to  (b,a,2)
3a+4a14b=0
ab4a2+14=0
From equations(1) and  2b216b2+14=0
b2=1
a2=4b2=4
x+15=y23=z1=k
=5k1,  β=3k+2,  γ=k
As (α,β,γ)  satisfies x – y + z = 0
5k1(3k+2)+k=0k=1
  α+β+γ=9k+1=10
