Detailed Solution

Light bouncing off a surface is known as reflection
The phenomenon of bouncing back of light in the same medium on hitting the surface of any object is a reflection of light. When light strikes a polished surface, it starts to bounce off from the surface due to the reflection of the light. Light reflection occurs when the waves meet a surface or other boundary that does not absorb the energy of the radiation and bounces the waves away from the surface. Most reflections over the surface happen in two ways that depend upon the surface. The first type of surface is an irregular surface, where it has bumps or a rough surface, and the second one is a regular surface, where it has a smooth surface, although it has bumps but negligible when compared to an irregular surface.
