Detailed Solution

Three major indigenous milch (milk-producing) breeds of cows in India are Sahiwal, Gir, and Red Sindhi. They are well-known for producing good amounts of milk and for adjusting easily to different climates.

  • Sahiwal: Originating from the Punjab region, Sahiwal cows are famous for their high milk yield and excellent heat tolerance. They are calm and easy to manage, making them one of the best dairy breeds in India.
  • Gir: The Gir breed comes from the Gir forest area in Gujarat. These cows are known for their strong build, unique curved horns, and high milk production. Gir cows are also very hardy and adaptable to different conditions.
  • Red Sindhi: The Red Sindhi breed originally comes from the Sindh region (now in Pakistan). They are easily recognized by their reddish-brown color and are known for good milk yield and strong resistance to heat and diseases.
