Lord Irwin announced, in October 1929, a vague offer of dominion status for India.
Viceroy Lord Irwin made an unclear offer of India having "dominion status" in the future. And he convened a Round Table Conference to develop a new constitution to win support in October 1929. The Congress leaders were disappointed by this. Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose's radical wing of the Congress became more vocal as they wanted complete independence.
