Detailed Solution

Louis XVI was sentenced to death on the charge of treason and was executed publicly at the Place de la Concorde on 21 January 1793. On the morning of 10 August 1992, the Palace of the Tuileries was stormed by members of the Jacobins political party. They massacred the king’s guards, and the king was taken hostage for several hours and later imprisoned along with the royal family. After elections were held, the newly elected assembly was called the convention. The assembly abolished the monarchy and then declared France a Republic.
