Lungs are covered by

The pleural membranes are thin, double-layered, serous membranes that surround each lung and line the inside of the chest cavity. There are two layers of the pleura:

• Visceral Pleura: This is the inner layer that directly adheres to the surface of the lungs, covering and protecting them.
• Parietal Pleura: This is the outer layer that lines the chest wall and diaphragm.
