Luther’s translation of the New Testament sold 5000 copies within a few weeks. The famous reformer Martin Luther waged war against the Catholic Church with his work the Ninety Five Theses. He outlined their high-handedness and corrupt nature, and his ideas were lapped up by the masses. A spirit of revolution arose in Europe against the Church authority and it eventually led to the Reformation. Using the technology of printing, Luther went on to translate the New Testament in order to make it more accessible to the masses. This translation was a huge hit among the common people. It went on to sell around 5000 copies in a matter of just a few weeks.
