Detailed Solution

Lysosomes are small vesicles that contain hydrolytic enzymes. These enzymes can break down cellular waste, macromolecules, and organelles for recycling or disposal.

Lysosomes are formed from the Golgi apparatus. The Golgi apparatus is responsible for modifying, sorting, and packaging proteins and lipids for transport to their final destination. Lysosomal enzymes are synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum and then transported to the Golgi apparatus for further modification and packaging into vesicles. These vesicles then bud off from the Golgi apparatus and become mature lysosomes.
