Detailed Solution

Mahatma Gandhi had designed the Swaraj flag by 1920.
As the national movement grew, nationalist leaders became more conscious of the power of icons and symbols to unite people and foster a sense of nationalism. Mahatma Gandhi created the "Swaraj flag" in 1921. A tricolour flag (red, green, and yellow) was made in Bengal during the Swadeshi movement. It featured a crescent moon representing Hindus and Muslims and eight lotuses representing the eight British Indian regions. In 1921, another tricolour (red, green, and white) had a gleaming wheel in the middle, signifying the Gandhian self-help philosophy. During marches, carrying the "Swaraj flag" and holding it aloft came to represent defiance.
