Mahatma Gandhi launched a Satyagraha against the Rowlatt Act.
This Act was implemented under the Government of India Act,1919, and a significant reaction was seen among the people of India. The Rowlatt Act was imposed in March 1919, by which the police could arrest any person based on suspension, and the detained person would not get the chance to prove his part as there was no trial in court. Thus the British authorities could also imprison the suspects. The Act generated a wave of anger among the people. Therefore, Gandhi launched a nationwide Satyagraha and went on a hunger strike.
