Detailed Solution

Mahatma Gandhi launched Civil Disobedience in the year 1930.
After a long struggle by action and protest against the British, Gandhiji made 11 demands to the viceroy Irwin and gave him a deadline to accept these demands. He stated that if Irwin did not accept these demands, then Gandhi would launch the Civil Disobedience Movement, which law should break. After that, Gandhiji started the Dandi March on 12 March 1930 to break the salt law. Gandhi thought that if he launched a movement on the national level to abolish the salt law, it could unite the nation because salt was something essential consumed by rich and poor alike. Moreover, the salt tax revealed the oppressive face of British rule.
