Detailed Solution

Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa in January 1915, successfully resisting the racist government using a new strategy of mass agitation named Satyagraha. Satyagraha emphasised the importance of truth and the necessity to seek it. It implied that using physical force to fight the oppressor was unnecessary if the cause was just and the fight was against injustice. Mahatma Gandhi led the workers' march from Newcastle to Transvaal. Thousands of other workers joined the satyagraha against racist laws that restricted rights to non-whites after the marchers were stopped and Gandhiji was taken into custody.
