Detailed Solution

Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa to India in January 1915. He moved to South Africa in 1893 to practise law, developing most of his political ideologies. He faced a lot of vile abuse because of his race and skin colour and was not allowed to board first-class trains or walk on footpaths. He was often beaten and was told to remove his turban by a judge in one instance. This motivated him to return to his motherland and fight for the rights of Indians against the British colonists.
