Mahatma Gandhi started the Kheda Satyagraha in 1918 in Gujarat. It was held to oppose the crop yielding tax imposed by Britishers, which farmers of Kheda paid. Britishers had made a rule that those who cultivated crops on their farms would have to pay tax. But if the crop yield was equal to one-fourth of the land or less, they would not have to pay tax. However, the British did not apply this rule in Kheda. This was then protested by Gandhi and the farmers of Kheda.
