Detailed Solution

Mahatma Gandhi started the Salt march from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, the coastal town of Gujarat.
Gandhiji started his Dandi March or Salt Satyagraha on March 12th, 1930. When he reached Dandi, Mahatma Gandhi broke the salt law by boiling the seawater and manufacturing salt on April 6th, 1930. This Dandi march also marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience Movement. With the spread of news of the campaign, people started boycotting foreign clothes; peasants refused to pay revenue and taxes; village officials resigned, and forest people violated laws in many places. However, Mahatma Gandhi, along with all the other leaders, was arrested by the British government.
