Mahmud of Ghazni attacked India's temples. He was the Turkish sultan of Afghanistan who sought to enlarge his sphere of influence. He made roughly 17 attacks against India. It was India's first Turkish invasion. In 1025 AD, he attacked the Somnath temple in Kathiawad, Gujarat. He stole from the Somnath temple to increase his wealth because he knew there was a lot of money in Hindu temples. He attacked India with the intention of stealing from it in order to amass wealth.
