Detailed Solution

Manuscripts were written on palm leaves.
The writing in manuscripts was done on the leaves on both sides. The people of the ancient age made holes in the leaves, stacked long rectangular strips on top of one another, and used the string to bind and secure the sheets of a manuscript. Indians wrote books and manuscripts on cloth, palm leaves, birch tree bark, and other perishing materials. Palm leaves have been used for writing from the fifth century BCE, as may be seen in South Asia and Southeast Asia. A palm leaf manuscript can last from a few decades to 600 years.
