Detailed Solution

Marco Polo was a traveller from Venice. Between 1271 and 1295, he travelled extensively from Europe to Asia as a merchant and explorer. In the 13th century, he travelled the Silk Road through Asia. Kublai Khan impressively appointed Marco Polo as an envoy after Polo learned four languages and immersed himself in Chinese culture. He was dispatched to far-flung regions of Asia, such as Vietnam, Burma, India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, by Kublai Khan. Later, Marco was appointed governor of a significant Chinese city, Yanzhou's tax inspector, and he was given a formal place on the Khan Privy Council.
