Detailed Solution

Marianne was the allegory of France.
Marianne was a female allegory created by a nineteenth-century painter to represent France. Four of Marianne's statues were placed in public places, reminding people of the symbol of national unity and persuading them to relate to it during the French Revolution. Her traits—the red cap, the tricolour, and the cockade—were modelled after those of Liberty and the Republic.
