For uniform velocity motion, average acceleration of particle is zero since velocity is constant. 

For accelerated motion, a¯.v¯>0 ,where a and v are acceleration and velocity of the particle because both acceleration and velocity are positive. 

For decelerated motion,  a¯.v¯<0,where a and v are acceleration and velocity of the particle. because if velocity is positive, acceleration will be negative since it opposes the motion. 

In a constant acceleration motion, distance covered need not be equal to displacement. In case of acceleration of a body being in the opposite direction of the initial velocity of the body, distance covered will be greater than the displacement.
