The natural fibre is obtained from plants and animals. Based on the source, natural fibre is categorised into animal and plant fibre. Animal fibre, such as wool is obtained from sheep and goats, and silk is obtained from silkworm cocoons. Plant fibre, such as cotton, is obtained from cotton plants and jute from jute plants. Synthetic fibres are man-made fibres obtained from a chemical compound. The repeating monomer unit is joined to form polymer fibre. These polymeric fibres are turned into fabric. Nylon is used in ropes, brushes and parachutes. Rayon is used in the textile industry, tyre cord and surgical dressings.
