Sulfur trioxide is thought of as a sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) anhydride. The trigonal planar structure of SO₃ has a bond angle of 120^o. It displays a representation of the SO₃ molecule. A triangular planar SO₃ molecule with sp² hybridization of the S atom exists in the gaseous phase.
