Laterite soil: Leaching occurs in laterite soil because of high rainfall and high temperature, which is quite common in mountainous regions where this soil is found.
Black soil usually consists of 60 percent of clay, and clay usually has high moisture retention because of the tiny size of the particles in clay, and thus black soil has high moisture retention.
Alluvial soil: They have a good mixture of clay, sand, and silt, which agriculture prefers. This combination provides a better movement of water and air to the roots in the soil, increasing the yield. Hence, alluvial soil is intensely cultivated in India.
Arid soil: This is saline in nature because of the presence of high calcium and sodium content. Hence, they are used for salt production.
