1)      On June 30, 1823, Sir Dinshaw Manockjee Petit, first Baronet, was born in the residence of his maternal grandfather, Jejeebhoy Dadabhoy, on Bora Bazar Street in Fort, Mumbai.
2)      Tagore, Prince Dwarkanath (1794-1846), industrialist and founder of Jorasanko, Calcutta's famed Tagore dynasty. Contemporaries referred to him as a prince because he had visited Britain, where he was initially referred to as such by individuals who came into contact with him, and also because his lifestyle in Calcutta was marked by princely splendour and influence. Dwarkanath Tagore, Devendranath Tagore's father, and Rabindranath Tagore's grandfather, was one of the banians and mutsuddy who comprised the first generation of Bengali entrepreneurs and sociopolitical activists.
3)      Birla was from Pilani. His grandfather, Shiv Narayan Birla, was a traditional Marwari moneylender. He established Kesoram Cotton Mills after starting a cotton factory in Sabzi Mandi. He moved into the jute sector, as well as cotton mills, and shifted his headquarters to Calcutta, Bengal, the world's largest jute-producing region.
