As per the rules in Lebanon, the parliament elects a president who must belong to the Maronite Sect of Catholic Christians. The president is elected for six years, and the same president cannot be re-elected in the next elections. Thus, the president is elected for a single term. The president and parliament choose the prime minister who must belong to the community of Sunni Muslims. The deputy prime minister should belong to the community of the Orthodox Christian sect, and the speaker in Lebanon must belong to the Shia Muslims community. The opposition in Lebanon was also given the veto power in the council of ministers, and the distribution of power in the society is based upon religious indicators.
