Detailed Solution

The popular struggles in Nepal and Bolivia enlighten us on how popular works help set up democracies and act as a tool in democratic societies. In Nepal, the popular struggle was to restore democracy. In Bolivia, the popular struggle was a democratic struggle against water privatisation. In 1990, Nepal was a democracy while the King continued as a formal head of state. Together they formed a strong allegiance against the King. A poor Latin American country, Bolivia was pressed by the World Bank into privatising municipal water supply. The people with an average income of 5000 rupees had to pay 1000 rupees in water bills alone. A non-political organisation led the movement. It later received support from the Socialist party. The people refused to back down despite numerous strikes from the government. Finally, the MNC, which took up the water supply, gave up. The government had to restore the water supply at previous rates.
