The Indian Constitution provides certain fundamental rights to its citizens to protect them from misuse of power by political leaders as well as from the tyranny of majority groups.
1)      Right to freedom: This includes the right to freedom of speech and expression. Any Indian citizen is free to move and reside in any part of the country. They are free to form associations. They can take up any profession or business of their choice.
2)      Cultural and Educational Rights: All religious and linguistic minorities may protect and preserve their language and culture. They may set up educational institutes.
3)      Right to Equality:Everyone's equal before the law. Any discrimination based on gender, caste, class, etc. is prohibited by law. Everyone is to be granted equal opportunities.
4)      Right against exploitation: Human trafficking as well as forced labour are prohibited. Children under the age of fourteen are not to be employed.
5)      Right to Constitutional Remedies: Anyone may move the court in the event of any violation of fundamental rights.
