Detailed Solution

Giuseppe Mazzini became a member of the secret society of the Carbonari. Mazzini was an Italian revolutionary born in Genoa in 1807. The Carbonari, which translates to "charcoal producers," were a loose confederation of covert revolutionary organisations operating in Italy between 1800 and 1831. The Carbonari society promoted patriotic and liberal ideals. However, they lacked the idea of an immediate political agenda. Members of the Carbonari society and other people who were influenced by the Carbonari society took part in major events aimed at the unification of Italy, and it further helped in raising the feeling toward Italian nationalism.
