Given as follows,
Percentage of amount deposited by Medha in a bank = 20%
Money left with her after spending 20% = Rs. 4800
We have to determine the original amount of money that Medha had.
So, let y be the amount which Medha had originally.
Now, as stated, she has deposited 20% in the bank, which can be expressed mathematically as follows,
20% of y = 20 100 y or 1 5 y .
So, after depositing 1 5 y in bank, the amount which remains with Medha,
  y− y 5 = 5y−y 5 = 4 5 y
Again, she spent 20% of the remaining amount,
20% of the remaining money = 20 100 × 4y 5 = 4y 25 .
We know, the amount remaining after this expenditure is Rs. 4800.
So, we can form an equation using this information as follows,
4y 5 − 4y 25 =4800 20y−4y 25 =4800 16y 25 =4800 y= 4800×25 16 y=300×25 y=7500
So, the original amount of money that Medha had is found to be Rs. 7500.
