Mehrauli Iron Pillar is located in Delhi. It is known for the remarkable skill of Indian craftsmen. According to archaeologists, the issuing of this Iron Pillar dates back to 1500 years ago. Most historians believe that this inscription was issued by Chandragupta II, who belonged to the Gupta Empire.
Archaeologists say that Chandragupta II presidentially issued the Iron Pillar because the pillar has a name mentioned as Chandra, the ruler. This Iron Pillar is about 7.2 M high and weighs over three tonnes. Despite being made of iron, it is not rusted even now. This shows that ancient India had remarkable skills in Metallurgy.
