Detailed Solution

Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are the inner planets of the solar system.
From a distance outward from the Sun, the planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. These planets can be categorised as inner and outer planets based on their increasing distances from the Sun.
The closest planets to the Sun are the Inner planets. The inner planets are mainly made of rocks and metals, also known as Terrestrial planets. Compared to the outer planets, they are small in size and shape. They have a solid surface and molten metal core. Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are the four innermost planets in the Solar System.
