Detailed Solution

Concept- Metal carbonates are represented as MCO3. When an acid reacts with a metal carbonate, salt and water must be formed as in an acid-base neutralisation reaction.
The carbonate ion of metal carbonates, which is unstable, also undergoes decomposition to form carbon dioxide gas. This gas production is detected by effervescence (bubbling) in the solution. It may also be tested by passing the gas produced through lime water, which turns a milky colour.
Thus, the overall products of the reaction of metal carbonates with dilute Question Image results in the formation of the metal sulphate, water and carbon dioxide gas.
The reaction can be represented as follows: Question Image
Where M is any suitable metal.
Hence, the correct option is (4).
