Detailed Solution

Concept- The reactivity series is a chart in which metals are arranged in order of their reactivity. The metals which are found at the bottom of the reactivity series are the least reactive and the metals at the top of the reactivity series are the most reactive.
Now, in the reactivity series, all the metals that are more reactive than hydrogen are capable of displacing hydrogen gas from the acids.
The less reactive metals such as Silver, copper and Gold are placed below the hydrogen atom in the reactivity series and therefore they do not produce hydrogen gas.
Certain metals like Aluminium, magnesium and iron are highly reactive and thus, they produce hydrogen gas with hydrochloric acid.
Copper being less reactive than H, does not react with dilute hydrochloric acid.
Hence, the correct option is (4).
