Detailed Solution

Minerals are deposited and accumulated at the strata of the sedimentary rocks. Strata refer to the layers of rock or soil. Sedimentary rocks are mainly formed from deposits of preexisting rocks. They comprise many minerals in the form of layers formed due to their concentration in horizontal strata caused by accumulation and deposition. Here, the minerals are accumulated after being exposed to high heat and pressure for a long period. Common sedimentary rocks include limestone and sandstone. Iron ore, gypsum and coal are also formed in this way. In semi-arid or arid regions, sedimentary rocks are formed due to evaporation.
