Mining activities are affecting both health and the environment. Although mining is an occupation due to which many Indians are employed, and even mining activities are important for various industries as well, it still has major effects on the health of the people and the environment. Firstly, the health of miners is at stake every moment they are inside the mines, as roof and fire incidents are very frequent. Secondly, various harmful gases are also released during mining, which is very hazardous for them. Thirdly, when it comes to the environment, those gases also pollute the environment, and the surrounding water also gets contaminated and becomes unfit for drinking. And lastly, waste products like slurry, pesticides, and fertilisers are also released on the earth's surface, degrading soil fertility and hence causing poor food production.
