Detailed Solution

Mohammad Ali and Shaukat Ali were the leaders of the Khilafat movement. The founders of the Khilafat Movement were Mohammad Ali and Shaukat Ali. The Khilafat issue was caused by the British. The Turkish Sultan was known as the Khalifa. The British imposed a harsh Treaty on the Turkish Sultan in 1920. The Indian Muslims respected the Khalifa. They wanted Khalifa to retain control over Muslim sacred places in the Ottoman Empire. People were infuriated by this treaty and as a result, the leaders like Muhammad Ali and Shaukat Ali lead the Khilafat movement. They also extended their support to the non-Cooperation movement (led by people who were infuriated by the Jallianwala Bagh massacre). Their support benefitted the non-cooperation movement.
