It is given a trapezium shaped field, its side along the river is parallel to and twice the side along the road and the area of this field is 10500 m 2  and the perpendicular distance between the two parallel sides is 100 m.
Length of the side along the river is twice the length of the side along the road. So,
Let, the length of the side along road a = x.
then, length of the side along river b = 2x.
Area of Trapezium = 1 2 (a+b)h  
10500= 1 2 (x+2x)100 10500= 1 2 ×3x×100 10500 100 = 1 2 ×3x 105= 3x 2 210=3x 210 3 =x 70=x x=70m  
Length of the side along river is;
 2x  2×70  140 m  
Hence option (1) is correct.
