Detailed Solution

Montesquieu's proposition of division of power within the government between the legislative, the executive and the judiciary was put into force in the USA in the 18th century. The French political philosopher Montesquieu is renowned for his doctrine of separation of powers. This doctrine calls for a division of legislative, executive and judicial functions of the government among separate bodies that are independent of each other to prevent the accumulation of power in a single person's hand. His idea influenced a wide section of the people, even the framers of the US constitution. The doctrine became an integral part of the US constitution, with Articles 1, 2 and 3 vesting the powers in the Congress, President and the Supreme Court, respectively. Thus the US became the first country to put into force the doctrine.
