Detailed Solution

Morris prints in the nineteenth century Britain were manufactured from Indigo.
The Morris prints were floral prints on cotton cloth. It was designed by William Morris, a poet and an artist in Britain. The Morris Cotton prints used blue dye in them. The rich blue colour of Morris prints indicated that the dye was produced from the Indian indigo plants. India was the largest exporter of indigo. It was mainly grown in the Bengal region. The indigo dye from India dominated the British market. It was preferred over the local dye of Europe. The demand for Indian indigo grew with industrialisation as cotton manufacturing was enhanced in the 18th century.
