Most Dhangars were shepherds, some were blanket weavers, and some were buffalo herders. Maharashtra's Dhangars were a prominent pastoral community. They were constantly moving to find forage for their cattle. During the monsoon, they stay on the central Maharashtra plateau. This tract was used as a cattle grazing area during the monsoon. The Dhangars gathered their Bajra in October, set off on the trek, and finally arrived in Konkan.
