Detailed Solution

Most liquids that conduct electricity are a solution of acid, base and salts.
Ions are electrically charged particles formed when an acid, base, or salt is dissolved in water. Ion-containing solutions conduct electricity. Pure water is a poor conductor because it contains few ions. When ions are present, they can pass through a solution and generate an electric current. Pure water or sugar solution contains no ions in significant quantities. When sugar molecules are dissolved, they do not decompose into ions. As a result, these solutions are incapable of transporting an electric current. To conduct electricity, acids, bases, and salts ionise in an aqueous solution. Because tap water contains salts, it is a good conductor of electricity, whereas distilled water does not.
