Detailed Solution

Most peninsular rivers originate in the Western Ghats and flow towards the Bay of Bengal. These are the second category of Indian regions based on the origin; the other is the Himalayan rivers. These rivers are seasonal as they only get water from rainfall, unlike Himalayan rivers, which get their water from rain and melted snow. These rivers are shorter than the Himalayan rivers and have less flow compared to Himalayan rivers. In the summer, even large rivers like the Godavari also flow with very little water due to a lack of water supply.
