MRI is advantageous over CT because

CT scans use X-rays, which produce ionising radiation that may cause DNA damage leading to cancer. MRI uses strong magnetic fields and non-ionising radiations to accurately detect pathological and physiological changes in the living tissue. CT also produces three-dimensional images. MRI is more expensive than CT. MRI machine makes loud noise. Hence, the patients are often given headphones or earplugs.
