Detailed Solution

Mughals descended from Mongols and Timurids, two distinguished royal families. On their mother's side, they descended from Genghis Khan, a Mongol monarch who ruled over parts of China and Central Asia. They took over the thrones of Iran, Iraq, and modern-day Turkey as Timur's direct descendants from their father. The terms "Mughal" or "Mongol," however, were despised by the Mughals. The reason for this was that Genghis Khan was known for massacring numerous people. Additionally, they had a relationship with their rivals, the Uzbeks. On the other hand, the Mughals were fascinated by their Timurid roots. To honour their ancestors, each ruler had a painting of Timur and himself painted.
