Dr Mukund Ramrao was a member of Hindu Mahasabha. He was a prominent lawyer. He was a founding member of the Hindu Mahasabha and its first President; he was also one of Mahasabha's non-Brahmin leaders. He founded the Hindu Law Research and Reform Association (HLRA) in 1923. This organisation sought to establish a network of legal practitioners and scholars to advance, reform, and work on the Hindu legal framework. Jayakar joined the Swaraj Party and was appointed to the Federal Court in 1934, later becoming a Privy Councillor in 1939.
