Narmada river flows through a Rift valley between the Vindhya Range and the Satpura Range. This river rises from the Maikala region of Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh, and after flowing for 1312 k.m, it drains into the Arabian Sea near Gujarat. Significant tributaries of river Narmada are Barna, Kolar, Shakkar, etc. This river has made a major contribution to the Agriculture of Madhya Pradesh and is also used to produce Electricity through dams constructed over it.
